We often receive questions about how charter schools are funded in Georgia and we have the answers. If you need more information, contact us today.
It may come as a surprise to you that charter schools are funded much like their traditional school counterparts – from multiple sources.
According to the Georgia DOE, charter schools’ funding sources include:
- State Quality Basic Education(QBE) Funding
- Local Funding
- Federal Grants
- Fundraising and Other Charitable Contributions
In fact, charter schools in Georgia also receive similar funding. According to GA Code section 20-2-2068.1(a), “the local board and the state board shall treat a conversion charter school no less favorably than other local schools located within the applicable local school system unless otherwise provided by law. The local board and the state board shall treat a start-up charter school no less favorably than other local schools within the applicable local system with respect to the provision of funds for instruction, school administration, transportation, food services, and, where feasible, building programs. “
Despite this, there is often confusion around funding, how to receive it, how to manage the funding and how to operate the best charter school. If you have questions about Charter School Funding in Georgia, give us a call.
