Accountant

Job Description: ACCOUNTANT
Employment Status: EXEMPT
Reports To: CFO
Time Commitment: FULL-TIME, 40 HOURS PER WEEK
Starting Salary: 40,000-60,000

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Create and maintains the general ledger.
  • Review AP weekly and monthly reports.
  • Prepare weekly client reports.
  • Attend weekly team meetings.
  • Attend weekly client check-ins.
  • Host bi-weekly client meetings.
  • Attend client committee and board meetings and client budget vs actual meetings.
  • Respond to staff and client emails daily.
  • Input and update bill.com daily.
  • Update annual budget draft and budget amendments.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow reports.
  • Process client payroll.
  • Import payroll journal entries into QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile payroll against quarterly payroll tax filing and annual W2.
  • Review and produce quarterly reports.
  • Review monthly benefits, TRS, grants, bank statements, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Maintain monthly closing schedule.
  • Review and update GL postings.
  • Prepare month end financial statements and finalization.
  • Review monthly QuickBook reports.
  • Review and accrue all monthly bills.
  • Review and update month ends worksheet/OPUS.
  • Host and review preliminary financials with clients.
  • Prepare DEO46 reports.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Review grant package.
  • Input and update grant budget Conapp.
  • Review audit trail balance and book audit journal entries.
  • Manage special projects.
  • Prepare additional authorizer reports.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of spreadsheets.
  • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
  • Analytical skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
  • At least three years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
